The Statistics on Scientific Research and Technological Development Activities (R&D) operation is aimed at calculating the resources, both human and material, used in research work by the business sector, universities and public bodies. The information on R&D and the data on patents and utility models are indicators of the state of a country’s industry, its degree of competence or its scientific progress. Its methodology allows comparison of results obtained in the Basque Country with those obtained in other surrounding countries.
