The objective of the Social Protection Account operation is to calculate the expenditure and revenue of the Social Welfare systems carried out in the Basque Country by any public or private non-profit making body, distributed in four major groups: the Social Security System, the National Employment Institute, Civil Servant Regimes and Other Systems with Social Welfare Functions, and follows the methodology principles of The European System of Integrated Social Welfare Accounts. The production of the main sector macro-figures allow its impact of the economy of the Basque Country to be analysed and international comparisons to be made.
